The Pole to Pole Electric Vehicle Expedition is not a race. It is a mindful, epic journey of discovery, learning and hope as husband and wife team, Chris and Julie Ramsey aim to become the first people in history to drive a vehicle from a Magnetic North Pole location to the geographical South Pole in Antarctica. Powered by the kindness of strangers and at times, renewable energy where they can find it along the way.

Already as part of the expedition, the couple have become the first people in history to drive their electric car to a Magnetic North Pole location deep into the Arctic Ocean. They are currently still on the expedition travelling through the America's and heading into Antarctica for the last leg in December 2023.

This is a trailer for what they hope can become a documentary of their expedition. Please share far and wide, and if you are a production company or commissioner, please head to www.poletopoleev.com and reach out if you are interested in discussing documentary options.

Florian Fussstetter video/film - A colourful solution to flower waste

This video shows young entrepreneur Ankit Agarwal who turns flower waste from temples in India into innovative products.

Role: Director/Camera/Editor

Photographer/Writer: Georgina Smith

Client: UN Environment Programme Global HQ

In India, Shiva is the god of destruction. His job is to destroy the universe to re-create it. Every morning, Hindu temple bells ring out across the mist. The sound mingles with chanting, as groups of people gather to offer orange and pink flowers, milk and incense.

But in the same way that metal can be melted down and cast into a beautiful statue, Shiva’s strength lies not in destruction but in the creation of something new. Where there is disruption there is renewal, and worshippers pray for opportunity and positive change.

This is what entrepreneur and Young Champion of the Earth finalist Ankit Agarwal contemplated one day, when he hit upon an idea. Looking out onto the River Ganges—the lifeline for more than 400 million people which provides 40 per cent of India’s population with water—he realized a paradox.

The Ganges river has deep religious significance for Hindus. Millions bathe in its waters, believing they wash away sins. It is also highly polluted.

“As I was thinking about this, a temple truck dumped flowers right in front of me. Then it struck me: this is something I’ve seen all my life. I didn’t think of flowers as pollution. I started studying the life-cycle of flowers and was amazed,” says Agarwal.

As the world strives to cut greenhouse gas emissions and limit climate change, it is crucial to track progress towards globally agreed climate goals. Florian Fussstetter video/film - Plant to Power in Burkina Faso

Meet the UN Young Champion of the Earth from 2017, Mariama Mamane, who turns water hyacinth, an invasive species, into fertiliser, bio-gas and energy. Her pilot program prevents desertification, creates food security and converts a problem into a livelihood opportunity for people in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso.

Role: Director/Camera/Editor

Photographer/Writer: Georgina Smith

Client: UN Environment Programme Global HQ

The sun fades fast on a small village surrounding the outskirts of Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso’s capital city. Shadows fall in long dark lines across a neat row of houses. A group of school children race through the alleyways on their way home, clutching their school books.

Outside one of the houses, Mariama Mamane sits on the ground in the dust, huddled over a blue generator. The 29-year-old environmental engineer is attaching a large blue square bag containing biogas to a generator with a long tube.

The generator is stuck. With determination fixed on her face, she switches a series of tools between her hands as she tries to kick-start the machine branded “Jacigreen”—the name of her company founded in 2016. “It will work!” she says.

Jacigreen tackles the problem of invasive water hyacinth plants chocking the city’s water supply. Her invention cuts up water hyacinth, fermenting it into fertilizer and compost for farmers, called Jacigrow—available in bottles of 250 ml, 0.5 litres, 1 litre and 5 litres.
